These adventurers became known as the Gyrenauts.

Now, with the Earth facing its most dire challenges ever, the Gyrenauts are reuniting to chart a course towards a cleaner, more livable planet.

Gyrenauts is a Web 3 project, led by 5 Gyres, that harnesses the potential of blockchain technology to support organizations working on the world’s biggest issues. Collectors can choose one of 17 nonprofit organizations, each representing a different UN Sustainable Development Goal, and funds raised support the chosen cause while also fighting back against global plastic pollution.

There are many powerful and important ways to use blockchain in a positive, high-impact manner that can benefit the planet and its people. Gyrenauts will mint on Ethereum, a proof-of-stake chain that is vastly more efficient than its proof-of-work counterparts (like Bitcoin).
