Irreparable Injury: Voters in Six States Cast Ballots Under Illegal Maps in 2022 ([link removed])

By Paige Anderholm

Here are some updates from today.
* Wisconsin's Republican-controlled Senate voted ([link removed]) to remove the state's top elections official, Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) administrator Meagan Wolfe.
+ Shortly after, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul (D) filed ([link removed]) a lawsuit arguing that the Senate's vote to remove Wolfe has no legal effect and that she is still the "lawful" administrator of the WEC.
* A federal judge stuck down ([link removed]) parts of Arizona voter suppression law House Bill 2492. Among its provisions, the law requires strict proof of citizenship to vote.
* There will be at least two trials in the Fulton County election subversion case, as a judge separated ([link removed]) Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell's cases from Trump and all other defendants. Chesebro and Powell's trial begins on Oct. 23.

Our podcast, Defending Democracy, returns tomorrow!
* In the first episode of the season, Marc and Paige speak with Paloma Wu of Mississippi Center for Justice and Hannah Williams of Mississippi Votes about the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal’s decision to strike down the state’s Jim Crow-era “cruel and unusual” felony disenfranchisement law. It drops at 6 a.m. EDT. Listen on Apple ([link removed]) , Spotify ([link removed]) or wherever you get your podcasts
