John,

Pramila is determined to lead with one theme in mind: people over profits.
Yet Big Pharma, and many other predatory monopolies like it, are
determined to do the exact opposite.

That’s why Pramila joined forces with Sen. Elizabeth Warren to call on the
FDA to hold Big Pharma accountable for abusing the patent system to force
patients to pay for more expensive drug treatments — despite the
multitudes of cost-effective drugs being made available.

John, lowering
drug prices has been a long standing battle of our progressive cause. And
now it’s time to attack this issue at the root. [ [link removed] ]Add your name to our

Presently, the FDA requires any brand-name drug company to submit patent
information that covers drug products. But that system is being abused by
Big Pharma giants. They rig the list with “sham” patents that end up
blocking the introduction of generic drugs that come in at lower prices
than their big brand names.

In short: Big Pharma companies have more of an incentive than ever to list
“sham” patents to preserve their monopoly status and keep drug prices
high.

to put people over profits, end the abuse of the patent system, and take
the first steps to lower prescription drug costs for the American people.

Together,

Jayapal HQ
