…while politicians sit back and do nothing.
National Suicide Prevention Day just passed, and we spent it remembering the many children and teens who committed suicide after being negatively impacted by social media.
Unregulated social media platforms expose our children to the worst of humanity. In fact, studies [[link removed]] have suggested that social media use among teens is linked to low self-esteem, poor body image, and risk-taking behaviors.
Moreover, social comparison and cyberbullying have been associated with depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation among adolescents – and as a result, they are being taken from us too soon while big platforms fail to protect them. It’s sickening.
That’s why mothers of these children have made it their mission to advocate for kids, because our so-called leaders aren’t doing it.

There’s only so much a parent can do to filter what their child sees. Without legislation to hold companies accountable, tech companies will continue to control what our children view.
That’s why these mothers, along with Project Liberty Action Network and many concerned parents across the nation, are building momentum around passing much-needed legislation that would provide important protections for young people, as well as tools for families to hold Big Tech companies accountable.
As we reflect and remember those we’ve lost to suicide, we remember: we can help the generations of tomorrow by creating a safer web today.
Together we can build a better web.
