…while politicians sit back and do nothing. National Suicide Prevention Day just passed, and we spent it remembering the many children and teens who committed suicide after being negatively impacted by social media.
Unregulated social media platforms expose our children to the worst of humanity. In fact, studies have suggested that social media use among teens is linked to low self-esteem, poor body image, and risk-taking behaviors. Moreover, social comparison and cyberbullying have been associated with depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation among adolescents – and as a result, they are being taken from us too soon while big platforms fail to protect them. It’s sickening.
That’s why mothers of these children have made it their mission to advocate for kids, because our so-called leaders aren’t doing it. |
