This celebration of journalism and democracy will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street in Tampa, Florida.
Be there to celebrate Cooper’s career — including 20 years as one of the most trusted and influential voices on CNN — and congratulate him as he becomes the 10th recipient of the Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism. You won’t want to miss our exclusive on-stage interview with Cooper as he takes us behind the scenes of his most illustrious, on-the-ground coverage from disaster zones to political arenas. We’ll also learn more about Cooper’s latest projects as a podcaster and best-selling author and get deeply personal about family, loss and grief.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
VIP guests will convene at 5:30 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres, libations and mingling with fellow journalism supporters, including our guest of honor. The general reception will bring journalists, local leaders and other community members together at 6 p.m. and feature an open premium bar and live entertainment.
We’ll move to the Tampa Bay Ballroom at 7 p.m. for the program where you will enjoy a gourmet, three-course dinner and the featured presentation, which will recognize outstanding journalists and newsrooms whose dogged reporting held the powerful accountable for their actions and delivered justice to the community.
