That is why I was proud to sign an Executive Order to create apprenticeship programs throughout the state workforce. This is just another way we are making sure the state leads by example and continues to innovate.   Universal Preschool Kicks Off for Students Across Colorado   Four-year-olds across Colorado are heading to preschool as part of the first class of Colorado's Universal Preschool program, saving families thousands per year and giving kids the strong start they need to thrive. I visited students, teachers, and school administrators across Colorado, in Steamboat, Colorado Springs, Dillon, Broomfield, Idaho Springs, Arvada, Aurora, Denver, as they started their first weeks of universal preschool, and visited with students and teachers who shared their excitement for preschool! Statewide, over 40,000 four year olds are now in preschool -- a MAJOR increase from last year and families are saving upwards of $6,000! Universal Preschool enrollment is still open. What They're Saying:   Celebrating Talent Across Colorado COLORADO'S NEW POET LAUREATE Colorado’s Poet Laureate is an ambassador of the arts, and someone who can truly share their talents while inspiring the artistic abilities within ourselves. Throughout the years our state has been fortunate to have a number of talented individuals who have filled this important role, and in my first term, I was honored to appoint poet and performer Bobby Lefebre. Over the last four years, he has represented our state and the arts better than we could’ve ever imagined. This week, I was proud to announce Colorado's newest Poet Laureate, Andrea Gibson. Andrea’s work has touched millions of lives, and we are thrilled that through their new role as Colorado’s Poet Laureate, they can touch countless more here in our state and beyond. GOVERNOR'S PLATE AT THE COLORADO STATE FAIR The Governor's Plate competition at the State Fair is an exciting (and delicious!) chance to try some of the best Colorado food from talented chefs across our state. Congratulations to Stoke Pizza of Pueblo on winning the Golden Plate award for their wood-fired chorizo, elote, and green chile pizza. Each of the food trucks in the competition had incredible foods sourced from Colorado Proud ingredients.
