This week at CBPP, we focused on health, housing, state budgets and taxes, federal taxes, food assistance, and the economy.
* On health, Aviva Aron-Dine warned ([link removed]) that Medicaid “block grant” guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will likely encourage states to undermine health coverage. Judith Solomon cautioned ([link removed]) that a proposed Medicaid financing rule could jeopardize health care for millions of Americans. Hannah Katch pointed out ([link removed]) that Wisconsin is imposing the nation’s harshest Medicaid premiums on people in poverty. We also updated ([link removed]) our Sabotage Watch tracker on the Trump Administration’s efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act.

* On housing, Peggy Bailey commented ([link removed]) that we need rental assistance and services, not punitive policies, to end homelessness. Alicia Mazzara pointed to ([link removed]) findings that the rental housing affordability crisis is worst for the lowest-income families.

* On state budgets and taxes, Elizabeth McNichol noted ([link removed]) that although some states are taxing wealth and high incomes better, more progress is still needed.

* On federal taxes, we celebrated ([link removed]) Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day, a time to bring attention to the EITC and other refundable tax credits to encourage more eligible taxpayers to claim them.

* On food assistance, we updated ([link removed]) our report reviewing state government SNAP websites.

* On the economy, we updated ([link removed]) our backgrounders on the post-Great Recession economy ([link removed]) and on how many weeks of unemployment compensation ([link removed]) are available.
