Friend,
The first week of the Impeachment Trial of Ken Paxton, the indicted and suspended Attorney General of Texas, has been a rollercoaster of shocking revelations and evasive tactics, filled with legal maneuvers, emotional testimonies, and a glaring absence of accountability from Ken Paxton.

If you haven't been able to follow the trial closely, here's a day-by-day breakdown of what you've missed:
Day One: Ken Paxton's attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf to every article of impeachment. A supermajority of Texas Senate jurors rejected all 16 of Paxton's pre-trial motions, which included attempts to dismiss all articles of impeachment and remove specific Democratic members of the jury. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick ruled that Paxton could not be compelled to testify, and Paxton was notably absent for most of the day.
Day Two: Paxton continued to be absent from his own trial. Revelations came to light about his "alarming" relationship with Nate Paul, which became so damning that Paxton’s attorney accused a key witness of “staging a coup” against Paxton. Paxton even sent out a campaign fundraising email comparing himself to Davy Crockett, potentially violating a Senate gag order.

Day Three: Witnesses and whistleblowers to Paxton’s crimes in the OAG provided emotional accounts of alleged workplace abuse and revealed Paxton's attempts to change state foreclosure laws to benefit his friends. New information also emerged about Paxton's efforts to release confidential FBI records to Nate Paul. Paxton's campaign sent out another appeal for donations -- donations which could potentially be used to pay his legal fees.
Day Four: Testimonies revealed that the Office of the Attorney General kept a "blacklist" of reporters and coerced investigations into debunked conspiracy theories, and Paxton's legal team continued to paint whistleblowers as "rogue" staffers deserving of termination. David Maxwell -- Paxton's former top cop -- stated that fulfilling Nate Paul's request for an investigation would amount to "obstruction of justice and interfering with a federal investigation," and that he found the search warrant against Paul's business to be "lawful," effectively dismissing any need for further investigation.
