David Maxwell -- Paxton's former top cop -- stated that fulfilling Nate Paul's request for an investigation would amount to "obstruction of justice and interfering with a federal investigation," and that he found the search warrant against Paul's business to be "lawful," effectively dismissing any need for further investigation.
