In May 2023, Governor Tim Walz approved a capital investment funding allocation of $1.85 million to the City for improvements at Oheyawahe, a site in Mendota Heights on the National Register of Historic Places, considered sacred by Dakota people.

Residents Asked to Use Odd/Even Watering Schedule

As of August 29, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) shows nearly the entire state is abnormally dry and the Twin Cities is in severe drought.

Saint Paul Regional Water Services requests customers cooperation in adhering to recommended outdoor watering schedules during the current drought conditions.

Swamp White Oak
Tree of the Month: Swamp White Oak

Swamp White Oaks make up .7% of the total Tree Canopy Area in Mendota Heights ("Mendota Heights Natural Resources Management Plan, 2022"). The native range of the Swamp White Oak extended from Quebec west to Minnesota and south to the southeastern United States. In Minnesota, it is a species of special concern.
