Hi there,
Although it might not feel like it, fall is almost here! As the days (eventually) begin to cool down, we're looking forward to lots of opportunities to meet up. From the Fall Mixer to a webinar, read on to learn more.
Thank you again to the 75 people who stepped up to help us meet our goal of welcoming 65 new recurring donors [[link removed]] by the end of August. Not only did we reach that goal—we flew right past it! We couldn't make the impact we do without you.
Upcoming Events
Ward 1.5 meet-up [[link removed]]
Sunday, September 10, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Grand Duchess, 2337 18th St NW
GGWash hosts monthly Ward 1.5 meet-ups at Grand Duchess in Adams Morgan. Excitingly, this month's meeting is happening on Adams Morgan Day. That means 18th Street will be closed to cars! Don't miss this opportunity to meet-up with others who are as excited for car-free streets as you. Plus, hear what GGWash is working on, particularly in northwest DC, and what you can do to get involved. RSVP [[link removed]] to help us keep a headcount and to receive updates about the event.
Only one map: How transportation and racial inequities affect population health in DC [[link removed]]
Thursday, September 21, 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Virtual via Zoom
Transportation policy choices create public health outcomes, but few transportation decisions are made with the input of the health sector. Join researchers from George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health on Thursday, September 21, for a panel discussion about how transportation decisions impact health outcomes, and the implicit influence that transportation has on structural racism and health equity. This webinar will provide a framework and resources that can help attendees understand the dynamics among transportation, health, and racial inequities.
Moderator: Caitlin Rogger , Deputy Executive Director, Greater Greater Washington
Speakers:
Dr. Janet Phoenix (M.D., M.P.H.), Assistant Research Professor, GWU’s Milken Institute School of Public Health
Rachel Clark , Policy Director, Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness, GWU’s Milken Institute School of Public Health

Our Breakfast Links Curators kickstart each day at GGWash, working with our editors to select six to 10 engaging stories that provide a snapshot of recent local urbanist news. We've filled all of our regular Breakfast Links slots, and now we're looking for alternates! If you want to help us out but can't commit to a regular weekly shift, this is your moment.
[link removed] [[link removed]] Write for us [[link removed]]
GGWash is able to keep publishing great content thanks to the community members who write for us. We're looking for pitches from volunteer contributors and also have a limited number of paid freelance opportunities available. Have a specific idea for a story? You can submit your pitch through our pitch form [[link removed]] . If you would like to talk with us more about what it means to write for GGWash, please email us at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
[link removed] [[link removed]] Do we have the right address for you? [[link removed]]
We periodically ask you to confirm your address so that we can reach out to you about specific housing developments, transportation projects, volunteer opportunities, electoral work, or any other number of other things that are relevant because you live close to where they're happening. Check what we've got on file here [[link removed]] and update it if it's not correct.
