Ward 1.5 meet-up
Sunday, September 10, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Grand Duchess, 2337 18th St NW
GGWash hosts monthly Ward 1.5 meet-ups at Grand Duchess in Adams Morgan. Excitingly, this month's meeting is happening on Adams Morgan Day. That means 18th Street will be closed to cars! Don't miss this opportunity to meet-up with others who are as excited for car-free streets as you. Plus, hear what GGWash is working on, particularly in northwest DC, and what you can do to get involved. RSVP to help us keep a headcount and to receive updates about the event.
Only one map: How transportation and racial inequities affect population health in DC
Thursday, September 21, 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Virtual via Zoom
Transportation policy choices create public health outcomes, but few transportation decisions are made with the input of the health sector. Join researchers from George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health on Thursday, September 21, for a panel discussion about how transportation decisions impact health outcomes, and the implicit influence that transportation has on structural racism and health equity. This webinar will provide a framework and resources that can help attendees understand the dynamics among transportation, health, and racial inequities.
Moderator: Caitlin Rogger, Deputy Executive Director, Greater Greater Washington
Speakers:
Dr. Janet Phoenix (M.D., M.P.H.), Assistant Research Professor, GWU’s Milken Institute School of Public Health
Rachel Clark, Policy Director, Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness, GWU’s Milken Institute School of Public Health
