No one should have to choose between being there for their family and a paycheck. That?s why it?s time for paid family and medical leave [ [link removed] ] in Michigan.?

When I had my first daughter, I was also caring for my mom, who was dying of brain cancer, and beginning my first legislative term. I was trying to be a great mom, caretaker, and policymaker. Even with help, I understand how hard it is to raise a child, care for yourself, and juggle your work. Right now, around 77% of Michigan workers do not have access to paid family and medical leave. They deserve better.??

Some politicians who oppose paid family?leave are being urged to call it ?*summer break for adults**?*. But sleepless nights and endless diaper changes as you care for your new baby or chemotherapy appointments to treat your mom?s cancer aren?t a ?break?. Paid family and medical leave provide stability during difficult times, allowing you to focus on what matters most?the people you love. I won?t let anyone make light of the importance of being able to focus on family and health.?
