I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend, an end-of-summer moment I love to celebrate as an important reminder of how far we’ve come thanks to America’s workers and the labor movement.
We see their importance especially now, as coast-to-coast workers are striking across industries fighting for safer working conditions, better pay, and stronger unions. We all benefit from these efforts, and that’s why I will always fight for workers in Washington.
Every year, I’m inspired by the outpouring of support for the labor community during the Philadelphia Labor Day parade. One of my favorite things about the end of summer, it’s always a joy to see familiar faces along the route. Here’s what my Labor Day looked like:[[link removed]]
Hardworking men and women helped establish the safety and work practices many of us enjoy to this day. We owe them our respect and commitment. That’s why I’m so incredibly proud of the endorsement our campaign has received from our friends in labor like the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, Pennsylvania Federation of Teachers (PFT), the National Education Association (NEA), AFSCME Local 47, and Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP),
I hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.
In solidarity,
– Mary Gay
