The emergence of labor unions pushed employers to renegotiate hours and pay — tightening regulations on child labor, establishing the 40-hour work week, and solidifying the right to organize . Through organization and perseverance, the labor movement has fundamentally reshaped our idea of workers’ rights.

But after decades of corporations and special interests chipping away at those hard-won rights, labor unions are still fighting to secure fair wages and the right to unionize across industries. I stand with our labor unions – I hope you do too.
