Labor Day is more than just a long weekend; it’s also a great opportunity to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of workers – while reflecting on all the labor movement has accomplished for hard working Americans.

The emergence of labor unions pushed employers to renegotiate hours and pay — tightening regulations on child labor, establishing the 40-hour work week, and solidifying the right to organize. Through organization and perseverance, the labor movement has fundamentally reshaped our idea of workers’ rights.

But after decades of corporations and special interests chipping away at those hard-won rights, labor unions are still fighting to secure fair wages and the right to unionize across industries. I stand with our labor unions – I hope you do too.
