A few thoughts on the Gadsden Flag:
* It was designed by a delegate to the first Continental Congress named Christopher Gadsden, who also served as Brigadier General to the Continental Army.
* The rattlesnake was used as a symbol of the unity of the Thirteen Colonies at the start of the Revolutionary War.
* It represents the Founders belief in the right of the individual over government.
* It is not a symbol of slavery.
But let’s not let facts get in the way of a good narrative.
A 12-year-old in Colorado was told by a teacher that he can’t sport a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack, because it has roots in slavery??
Come on, man.
This is a picture perfect example of the problem with our education system here in the United States.
