Ok ok ok, technically this is an email and technically it is (almost) the end of the quarter. And um… we are going to ask for a donation. BUT here’s our promise to you— there will be no bullsh*t, no false urgency, and oh yeah, your money will go directly to grassroots groups fighting in key states.
We’re just under 70 days out from Election Day, and ~believe it or not~, the national media is a little bit more focused on the 2024 presidential election than the many down ballot elections this November.
Media attention or not, these elections are coming and they’ll have real consequences. Here are a few examples:
Virginia: Right now, an incredibly slim Democratic majority in the state Senate is the only thing stopping new abortion restrictions. Every seat in the legislature is up for grabs this November, and if Republicans flip even one seat in the Senate, [Glenn Youngkin will be able to enact his conservative agenda.]([link removed])
Ohio: Abortion is quite literally on the ballot in Ohio this fall. And Ohio Republicans recently certified misleading ballot language with anti-abortion propaganda in a last ditch attempt to trick voters. It’s the latest gross move in a series of endless gross moves by the OH GOP – and we’ve got a real chance to stop them.
Kentucky: Democratic Governor Andy Beshear is up for re-election and faces a challenge from Republican Daniel Cameron. Despite Republican supermajorities in the state legislature, Beshear has expanded health care access for 100,000 Kentuckians, increased public education funding, and expanded voting rights to tens of thousands of people. His re-election would represent a chance to continue progress in a state where there’s been some tough sledding.
Now we get to the “asking for money” bit. Because the national media is so focused on Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis, these states aren’t getting the attention or the support they need. So we’re asking you to donate to the No Off Years fund to support organizers in those 3 states and several others with critical elections this November.
