WLT and Fundacion Biodiversa Colombia are working together to save 260ha of extraordinary habitat in the middle-Magdalena valley, Colombia. The Barbacoas' forests and wetlands are home to an abundance of flora and fauna, like the Lowland Tapir, West Indian Manatee and Magdalena River Turtle. This is not only for safeguarding the future of plant and animal species; it is also vital for the health of local communities and the wider implications for climate change.

With your help, we are raising £295,000 to ensure these precious habitats are safe. This region has suffered extreme deforestation and degradation, with upto 90% of the original forests lost. Protecting the Barbacoas ensures that the last remaining forests and wetlands are not lost.

Running For Borneo

Mel Blagden, Finance Assistant at World Land Trust, is undertaking the iconic London Marathon to raise money for ** HUTAN ([link removed])
in Borneo.

Mel has firsthand experience on the tragic realities of deforestation:
"I've seen the realities of oil palm, even when you expect to see rainforest. Even along the river there are small protected areas and then straight behind them, you can see the oil palm plantations. Going out and seeing it for yourself makes the whole thing real...."
