WLT and Fundacion Biodiversa Colombia are working together to save 260ha of extraordinary habitat in the middle-Magdalena valley, Colombia. The Barbacoas' forests and wetlands are home to an abundance of flora and fauna, like the Lowland Tapir, West Indian Manatee and Magdalena River Turtle. This is not only for safeguarding the future of plant and animal species; it is also vital for the health of local communities and the wider implications for climate change.
With your help, we are raising £295,000 to ensure these precious habitats are safe. This region has suffered extreme deforestation and degradation, with upto 90% of the original forests lost. Protecting the Barbacoas ensures that the last remaining forests and wetlands are not lost.
