New Bulwell Bus Station now open ??
Bulwell bus station
*Thanks to a successful bid for £600,000 by Nottingham City Council, Bulwell Bus Station (used by a million people a year) completed its upgrade in May. *
*The new Bulwell Bus Station has:*
* Solar powered bus shelter lighting, and new greenery in planters along the footpaths with pollinator-friendly plants
* Safer, energy efficient passenger waiting facilities
* Upgraded real-time information displays
* Improved accessibility for wheelchairs
* Multiple seating options that cater to different mobility needs
* Improved efficiency for bus operators – The existing bus stops on the north and south side of Vere Street were relocated to the central island to form a more efficient arrangement, providing better traffic flow for buses, and more space for pedestrians on the footpaths on both side of the central island.
As a result Bulwell now has a bus station better equipped to cope with demand now and in the future. You can read about the opening here [ [link removed] ].

Streets for People programme making good progress
Streets for people
*Over 160 schemes have been completed so far across the city.*
In 2021, the council successfully bid as part of a competitive process for money from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to improve streets and local town centres, and make walking and cycling easier and safer.
Nottingham City Council has approved £11million of improvements to make our neighbourhoods greener, safer, better places to get around. Streets that have been improved so far include:
* *Roads* - Latham Street, Willow Hill Close and Wingbourne Walk
* *Paths* - Hethersett Gardens
We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacements. You can find out more by visiting the streets for people website [ [link removed] ].
