Thanks to a successful bid for ÂŁ600,000 by Nottingham City Council, Bulwell Bus Station (used by a million people a year) completed its upgrade in May.Â
The new Bulwell Bus Station has:Â
-
Solar powered bus shelter lighting, and new greenery in planters along the footpaths with pollinator-friendly plants Â
-
Safer, energy efficient passenger waiting facilitiesÂ
-
Upgraded real-time information displaysÂ
-
Improved accessibility for wheelchairsÂ
-
Multiple seating options that cater to different mobility needsÂ
-
Improved efficiency for bus operators – The existing bus stops on the north and south side of Vere Street were relocated to the central island to form a more efficient arrangement, providing better traffic flow for buses, and more space for pedestrians on the footpaths on both side of the central island.Â
As a result Bulwell now has a bus station better equipped to cope with demand now and in the future. You can read about the opening here.
Over 160 schemes have been completed so far across the city.
In 2021, the council successfully bid as part of a competitive process for money from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to improve streets and local town centres, and make walking and cycling easier and safer.

-
Roads - Latham Street, Willow Hill Close and Wingbourne Walk
-
Paths - Hethersett Gardens
We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacements. You can find out more by visiting the streets for people website.
Drop-in surgeries with your local Councillors are your opportunity to talk to your local Councillors, get help or share an idea on how to make Bulwell a better place to live.Â
