Air Force veteran David Grusch provided outstanding testimony during our recent
hearing

on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs). First, God bless him for serving
our country and keeping us free. He is one of our nation’s heroes and should be
treated as such every single day of his life.



It isn’t easy to come forward with the information he provided. As I said
weeks ago, our men andwomen in the military are often mocked and shamed

into silence on this topic. David's admission of our possession ofnonhuman
biologics <[link removed]> took courage in the
face of bureaucratic bullies.



Men like David, who dare to challenge the status quo, risked it all to push
for change

on UAP matters, and we should celebrate their bravery. Instead,The Intercept
<[link removed]> chose a
different path, opting to publish a piece that delves into his mental health
struggles, including his stay at a mental health facility after making suicidal
statements.



Let me be crystal clear: WE MUST DO BETTER.

It makes me sick to see the media attempt to discredit a veteran who struggled
with the very real impact of PTSD. Like so many others, David came home from
Afghanistan withunseen wounds

—and was further affected when one of his closest comrades took his own life.



This attempt to silence David only adds to the existing mental health stigma
<[link removed]>
our nation’s heroes already deal with, and I won’t stand for it.



We sleep soundly each night because men and women like David are all over the
world fighting for the principles and freedoms we hold so dear. It is because
of them that we can raise our families in the greatest country in the world
without fear of persecution or danger on our doorsteps. I am forever grateful
to each and every one of them for their service and sacrifice.



Attempting to undermine the credibility of a decorated veteran like David only
further reveals the desperation of those who want to conceal the truth, but I
can promise you this: They will fail.
