The American Immigration Council has had an incredibly busy first half of 2023. Despite a challenging political climate, we’ve accomplished a tremendous amount to help improve the lives of immigrants and make our country a more welcoming place.

Here is a small sample of some of our greatest accomplishments to date. In 2023, the Council has:

Expanded
our
influence—we
now
advise
19
governors
and
more
than
100
local
communities
on
how
to
create
policies
and
programs
to
benefit
immigrants
and
make
their
communities
more
inclusive.



*
Grew
our
network
of
pro
bono
attorneys,
paralegals,
and
interpreters
to
better
help
asylum
seekers,
including
providing
legal
representation
for
more
than
1,500
Afghan
evacuees
.



*
Sued
Florida
Governor
Ron
DeSantis
to
challenge
his
anti-immigrant
law.



*
Testified
before
Congress
to
provide
our
expertise
regarding
the
situation
at
the
U.S.-Mexico
border.
