Our children deserve to have every opportunity at their fingertips. That?s why last month I signed a historic bipartisan education budget [ [link removed] ] which made the largest investment in our children in state history. ?With the resources in this budget, we are creating 5,600 free pre-K slots this fall, a big step towards the goal of ?Pre-K for All? by the end of my second term. Parents already know pre-K is the best way to give their kids a leg up early on in life, but affordability can be a challenge. Free pre-K saves families an average of $10,000 a year and gives every child a solid foundation for academic success. There is a straight line between early education and graduation rates, employment, and income.
