FRIENDS AND COMPAÑERES,
I’m writing you from the Central Mountains of Honduras in Siguatepeque,
where I’m fortunate to be spending the week with more than 100 grassroots
feminist leaders who are gathering together from Uruguay, Peru, Cuba,
Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and beyond to share in the power of popular
education and internationalist collaboration in our movements. Being a part
of our FIRST IN-PERSON BERTA CÀCERES INTERNATIONAL FEMINIST ORGANIZING
SCHOOL [3] fills my heart with joy and reverence.
I’m fired up by the commitment to resistance, the different strategies
groups are using to contest for power, the ways people are decolonizing
their practices and relationships, and how deeply we all care for our
communities. I’m inspired by the conversations and debates about our
bodies as the first territories to which we have access and how capitalism
and extraction undermines both our bodily autonomy and the well-being of
our planet. I’m also thinking about how we relate to the state as
movements — within our home countries and over borders, and how we in the
U.S. can best be in solidarity with the Global South.
We’re modeling an essential part of what our world needs, which goes to
the very roots of GGJ’s creation: internationalist solidarity and
collaboration.

I want to take a moment to share the immense and generative work we are
engaged in, which requires a huge infrastructural, logistical, and
operational lift. We’ve sorted through multiple airline and travel
challenges from nearly 20 countries and territories, and are implementing
language justice at the school, which means providing interpretation in
Spanish, Portuguese, and English!
We are still raising funds to cover costs for international participants,
interpretation, and the printing of our CURRICULUM GUIDEBOOKS [4]in five
languages.

AMIGAS Y COMPAÑERES,
Les escribo desde las montañas centrales de Honduras en Siguatepeque,
donde tengo la suerte de estar pasando la semana con más de 100 líderes
feministas de base que se están reuniendo desde Uruguay, Perú, Cuba,
Colombia, Venezuela, Brasil y más allá para compartir el poder de la
educación popular y la colaboración internacionalista en nuestros
movimientos. Formar parte de nuestra PRIMERA ESCUELA INTERNACIONAL DE
ORGANIZACIÓN FEMINISTA BERTA CÁCERES [3] me llena el corazón de alegría
y reverencia.
Estoy encendida por el compromiso con la resistencia, las diferentes
estrategias que los grupos están utilizando para disputar el poder, las
formas en que las personas están descolonizando sus prácticas y
relaciones, y lo profundamente que todos nos preocupamos por nuestras
comunidades. Me inspiran las conversaciones y debates sobre nuestros
cuerpos como los primeros territorios a los que tenemos acceso y cómo el
capitalismo y la extracción socavan tanto nuestra autonomía corporal como
el bienestar de nuestro planeta. También estoy pensando en cómo nos
relacionamos con el Estado como movimientos, dentro de nuestros países de
origen y más allá de las fronteras, y en cómo podemos ser más
solidarios en Estados Unidos con el Sur Global.
Estamos modelando una parte esencial de lo que nuestro mundo necesita, lo
que va a las raíces mismas de la creación del GGJ: solidaridad y
colaboración internacionalistas.

Quiero dedicar un momento a compartir la inmensa y generadora labor que
estamos llevando a cabo, que requiere un enorme esfuerzo infraestructural,
logístico y operativo. Hemos resuelto múltiples problemas de aerolíneas
y viajes desde casi 20 países y territorios, y estamos aplicando la
justicia lingüística en la escuela, lo que significa ofrecer
interpretación en español, portugués e inglés.
Todavía estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los costes de los
participantes internacionales, la interpretación y la impresión de
nuestras GUÍAS CURRICULARES [4] en cinco idiomas.
