LAUNCHING OUR FIRST FACE-TO-FACE IFOS NEXT WEEK!

DEAR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS,

We are beyond excited to announce that our first in-person BERTA CÁCERES
INTERNATIONAL FEMINIST ORGANIZING SCHOOL (IFOS) [3] will be held in
Honduras next week, in partnership with LA JORNADA CONTINENTAL [4] — the
Continental Alliance against Neoliberalism and for Democracy. This school
is the next step in realizing our vision of building and strengthening a
worldwide grassroots feminist movement based on the principles of a
feminist economy.

More than 100 people will attend, representing alliances and organizations
throughout the hemisphere. We are bringing a 22-person GGJ delegation
comprised of members, allies, and staff, some of whom will be leading as
facilitators. Over five days, we will explore the theoretical and
historical intersections of patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, white
supremacy, and the climate crisis. The school closes with a pilgrimage to
Berta’s resting place and a learning session with her organization, the
COUNCIL OF POPULAR AND INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS OF HONDURAS (COPINH) [5].

> must build power and liberation together.”

The 2023 BERTA CÁCERES INTERNATIONAL FEMINIST ORGANIZING SCHOOL [3] is a
collaboration between GGJ and LA JORNADA CONTINENTAL [4]. GGJ is also a
member of La Jornada Continental, an alliance spanning multiple sectors
including trade unions, women's movements, peasants, environmentalists, and
regional organizations, holding a joint space for resistance and developing
alternatives to oppressive systems in the Americas.

QUERIDES MIEMBROS Y PARTIDARIES,

Estamos sumamente entusiasmades de anunciar que nuestra primera ESCUELA
INTERNACIONAL FEMINISTA ORGANIZADORA BERTA CÁCERES (IFOS POR SUS SIGLAS EN
INGLÉS) [3] será llevada a cabo en Honduras la semana que viene, an
colaboración con LA JORNADA CONTINENTAL [4] — la Alianza Continental
contra el Neoliberalismo y por la Democracia. Esta escuela es el paso
siguiente en realizar nuestra visión de construir y fortalecer un
movimiento feminista de la base basado en los principios de una economía
feminista.

Más de 100 personas asistirán, representando a alianzas y organizaciones
de todo el continente. Llevaremos una delegación de GGJ de 22 personas,
compuesta de miembros, aliadas y personal, algunes de elles guiando como
facilitadores. Durante los cinco días, exploraremos las intersecciones
teóricas e históricas del patriarcado, la homofobia, la transfobia, la
supremacía blanca y la crisis climática. La escuela cierra con un
peregrinaje al lugar de descanso de Berta y una sesión de aprendizaje con
su organización, el CONSEJO CÍVICO DE ORGANIZACIONES POPULARES E
INDÍGENAS DE HONDURAS (COPINH) [10].

> trae ricas historias, trasfondos y amor por nuestras comunidades. En
> muchos estados estadounidenses, hay mucha desinformación sobre la gente
> LGBTQ+, llevando a un temor muy concentrado. Estamos encontrando formas
> de contrarrestar eso, de traer un reconocimiento de que estas cosas
> están interconectadas. Por eso es tan importante este convenio, porque
> estos temas son domésticos así como internacionales.

> “Por ejemplo, la gente que no puede acceder al aborto en su región del
> país está buscando otras formas de satisfacer sus necesidades, como
> buscar atención médica internacionalmente. Cuando empezamos a hacer
> estas conexiones, nos damos cuenta de la importancia de la solidaridad
> internacional. Debemos edificar el feminismo radical transnacional
> anti-imperialista en todo el continente. Cuando nuestras comunidades y
> nuestro mundo son oprimidos por los sistemas de dominio, debemos
> desarrollar poder y liberación juntes.”

incluyendo sindicatos, movimientos de mujeres, campesinos,
medioambientalistas y organizaciones regionales, creando un espacio
conjunto para la resistencia y para desarrollar alternativas a los sistemas
opresivos en América.
