Dear members and supporters, We are beyond excited to announce that our first in-person Berta Cáceres International Feminist Organizing School (IFOS) will be held in Honduras next week, in partnership with La Jornada Continental — the Continental Alliance against Neoliberalism and for Democracy. This school is the next step in realizing our vision of building and strengthening a worldwide grassroots feminist movement based on the principles of a feminist economy. More than 100 people will attend, representing alliances and organizations throughout the hemisphere. We are bringing a 22-person GGJ delegation comprised of members, allies, and staff, some of whom will be leading as facilitators. Over five days, we will explore the theoretical and historical intersections of patriarchy, homophobia,
transphobia, white supremacy, and the climate crisis. The school closes with a pilgrimage to Berta’s resting place and a learning session with her organization, the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH). “I’m excited to meet people in person. I know folks are coming with rich stories, backgrounds, and love for our communities. In many U.S. states, there is lots of disinformation around LGBTQ+ folks, leading to very concentrated fear. We are
finding ways to counter this, to bring recognition that these things are interconnected. That’s why this convening is so important, because these issues are domestic and international. “For example, folks who can’t access abortions in their parts of the country are seeking other ways to meet their needs, such as looking internationally for healthcare. When we start making these connections, we realize the importance of international solidarity. We must build radical transnational anti-imperialist feminism across our continent. As our communities and our world struggles under systems of domination, we must build power and liberation together.” —Darlene Moreno, The Feminist Front, GGJ delegation member
