Back to school season is here, Friend. And for LGBTQ young people, school can be a tricky place to explore who they are and how they identify, especially if they face harassment, discrimination, or a lack of resources.

LGBTQ students are more than four times as likely ([link removed]) to attempt suicide compared to their straight and cisgender peers. However, our research shows that LGBTQ students who identified a greater number of supportive school staff reported higher levels of self-esteem ([link removed]) , lower levels of depression, and lower rates of having seriously considered suicide in the past year.
