An awful hate crime fueled by Islamophobia claimed the lives of my three best friends, leaving me shattered and heartbroken.

With the encouragement of their families, I continued their legacy by getting involved in my community, leading with compassion and love.

That’s why I ran for County Commissioner in 2020, to serve my community in honor of my friends, and fight to dismantle the barriers stacked against Muslims like myself.
