Call To Action
Close the Camps!
Join us for a public memorial for the children killed in the U.S. concentration camps this Thursday, August 8th at 12:00 at The Commons (425 Portland Ave S, Minneapolis). The memorial will include eulogies for each of the children who have died in camps, as part of a larger action reflecting inhumanity of keeping people in cages. This is a daytime action that many will not be able to participate in, if you are able to show up please do so. You can find more information here ([link removed]) .

Stop Line 3!
Enbridge’s proposed Line 3 expansion would be the lynchpin of the global tar sands transportation network. It would bind our economy to tar sands for decades, deepening our dependence on the most dirty and dangerous form of crude oil. And it is the latest threat to North America’s indigenous people in their centuries long struggle against colonization and environmental destruction.

Anishinaabe leaders in the Ginew Collective have put out a call to action to stop Line 3 -- and Twin Cities DSA is in position to be vital allies. From August 16th-19th there will be a public action camp on Anishinaabe and Dakota land, where preconstruction on the pipeline is already underway.

This camp is hosted by Native organizers on the frontlines, and they’re inviting members of Twin Cities DSA to come in solidarity. Many of us have already contributed our labor and our passion to this fight, but this is a chance for new comrades to actively resist this devastating project... (Read More ([link removed]) )

"Racism and homophobia are real conditions of all our lives in this place and time. I urge each one of us here to reach down into that deep place of knowledge inside herself and touch that terror and loathing of any difference that lives there. See whose face it wears. Then the personal as the political can begin to illuminate all our choices."

What we're up to...
No Cages Returns
On Tuesday, July 30, about 200 activists shut down traffic around the Whipple Federal Office Building near the Ft. Snelling LRT station, under the slogan Never Again, Means Now. The Never Again movement is a recent movement led by Jewish activists and communities affected by immigration policies to protest the actions of the Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) agency and to demand an end to concentration camps and the abolition of ICE. Under the virtual banner of the No Cages Coalition, about a dozen Twin Cities DSA members and several close allies from other groups in the Coalition were among the participants... Sending Out Our Comrades
On Friday, July 29th, Twin Cities DSA held a fundraiser to support the expenses of the 19 delegates that Twin Cities DSA elected to the DSA National Convention. Over 50 comrades kicked off their weekend with comradery, music and dancing! In total, we were able to raise over $1500 that evening to support our delegates. If you weren’t able to make it out, you can still support our delegates here ([link removed]) or by purchasing our convention-exclusive t-shirt or bandana here ([link removed]) .... Convention Report Back!
Amid the heat and rain of August Atlanta, the DSA convention kicked off with an explosion (literally; they were shooting a movie a block from the hotel and blew something up last night). Canceled flights, overnight drives, and the pressure of representing the largest American socialist organization in a generation has produced a body of delegates that are sleep-deprived, worn-out, excited, wired, and ready to write the next chapter of American socialism...
