Alejandro Frost here with my friend, Summer Lee, the first Black woman to
ever represent Pennsylvania in Congress.

We’re reaching out because what the GOP has been pulling lately in
Congress CANNOT stand.

The same week DeSantis said Black people “benefited” from enslavement, our
Republican colleagues once again co-opted the language of a “two-tier
justice system” to make it sound like Trump and his henchmen are somehow
the victims – dismissing and degrading the subjugation of Black and brown
folks in this country.

The real two-tier justice system is that 1 in 3 Black men born today can
expect to be incarcerated. That Black men comprise about 13% of the male
population, but about 35% of those incarcerated. It’s the lynching of
Emmett Till. The brutal murder of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. And the
wrongful conviction of the Central Park Five.

I refuse to tolerate GOP politicians attempting to hijack the language of
the Black Lives Matter and civil rights movements just to defend Donald
Trump – and neither will Summer.

speak up for Black, brown, and indigenous communities in Congress. If

Republicans would rather use precious time in Congress drumming up outrage
among MAGA voters than addressing real issues & crises — like the
over-criminalization and incarceration of Black folks in this country.

We can’t let them distract from the true victims of our country’s two-tier
justice system, especially not in service of defending Trump.
