Philly is getting federal money to send local produce to city schools

Some exciting news for you, John: Dwight recently welcomed the USDA to W.B. Saul High School in Roxborough, announcing funding for 17 urban agriculture centers! That includes one right here in Philadelphia.

These programs will provide schools access to fresh fruit & vegetables and opportunities for students to learn about urban farming and sustainability. Plus, farmers will have new market opportunities in Philly!

New funding will support programs like:

🍅 Pasa Sustainable Agriculture, based locally in East Kensington. Pasa will start one of the urban centers to educate people looking to build urban and community-focused farms and food systems.

🧑‍🌾 That's not all: USDA money will also go to the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Program and an expansion of the Healthy Food Financing Initiative!

🥕 Weaver's Way Co-op, a member-owned cooperative grocery store in Germantown, recently received USDA support to renovate its long-closed storefront.

These new initiatives and investments are a direct result of Dwight's consistent support in Congress for strong schools, access to fresh food, and rebuilding America's cities.
