Community Swap at Earth Care!
Luxury home tax!
Comrades and Friends,

Santa Fe DSA is proud to have unanimously voted at our general meeting yesterday to endorse Santa Fe Bill No. 2023-23 ([link removed]) , an excise tax on homes sold for over $1 million, which would be used to support the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. Should this bill pass city council, it will come to a vote on the November election ballot. Santa Fe DSA looks forward to advocating for this ordinance alongside other measures needed to make housing a human right for all Santa Feans.

This Saturday, from 12-3 PM at 6600, Valentine Way, our friends at Earth Care will be hosting the monthly Community Swap. If you have any used clothes or household items to donate, or are in need of those, please feel free to stop by. This event will also be hosting a vaccine clinic, and plant giveaways.

We thank all the comrades and supporters who attended last week's fundraising potluck for the UPS Teamsters! We congratulate the determination and courage of UPS workers in bringing about a tentative agreement with significant concessions from UPS management ([link removed]) . Ultimately, whether to ratify this agreement as their contract will be in the hands of Teamsters workers.

Santa Fe DSA congratulates Alma Castro, our endorsed candidate for City Council District 1, for qualifying for public matching funds and receiving over $1000 in $5 donations from District 1 voters. This will give her campaign access to $15,000 in matching funds from the city, which will be needed to compete with the corporate-funded campaigns of her opponents. We thank all volunteers and supporters who have helped her achieve this major milestone.

Santa Fe DSA depends on the support of ordinary workers, rather than the 1%. If you would like to get more involved in any of the chapter's campaigns, or internal organizing work, fill out this form to volunteer ([link removed]) . If you haven't already, please consider joining DSA ([link removed]) , or donating directly to the chapter ([link removed]) .

In solidarity,
Nikhil,
Santa Fe DSA Secretary
