Some things never change, John. Unless we work together to change them.

Our present-day system of politics was born out of the racist power struggle that emerged during Reconstruction, when Black voting power posed an existential threat to politics as usual.

With Donald Trump out of the White House, extremists have shifted their focus to state legislatures, with a surge in voter suppression, abortion restrictions, harsh immigration laws, and other measures designed to take away our rights.

Our democracy is being hijacked by voter restriction techniques that disproportionately impact young people, the elderly, low-income individuals, and especially people of color. And within each of these communities, women are most severely affected.

For too long, these communities have been made to feel devalued, silenced, and held to different standards.

NOW was created alongside the civil rights movement, to overcome the most insidious, deep-rooted forms of discrimination, the kinds directed at an entire race or gender.

We’ve never wavered from our mission to end discrimination and inequality, and we need you with us now to push back against the barriers to equality and justice amidst this current wave of attacks.

You can support NOW’s efforts to achieve equality—and the rest of our intersectional feminist agenda—with your special gift today.

Too many of us have been left out over the years. Having a thriving, free civil society is fundamental, and we will not stop raising our voices until we see justice.

If you’re with us, John, please consider making a donation to NOW today.

Thank you for all that you do as part of the NOW community!

In solidarity,
Christian F. Nunes
President
