Each day I’m reminded why I spearheaded the censure of Congressman Tony Gonzales, and the introduction of legislation ([link removed]) that prioritizes job-seeking foreigners during our nation’s turbulent economic situation is yet one more example!

Rep. Gonzales attempted to rationalize this by saying, ‘It highlights to American workers that some of these jobs aren’t necessarily seasonal anymore. So, it gives them an encouragement for American workers to go apply for these jobs’.

Yes, you read that right! AmnesTony’s logic for presenting legislation that focuses on empowering foreigners to gain employment in our nation is that Americans will now see the merit of applying for such jobs.

Gonzales claims that immigration reform is such a ‘heavy lift’, and ‘that’s why it hasn’t been done’. He neglects to mention that when his Congressional Republican colleague, Rep. Chip Roy introduced the Border and Security Act of 2023, along with 72 Republican Co-Sponsors, AmnesTony publicly condemned the legislation because it didn’t offer enough asylum opportunities! Tony Gonzales took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and protect the nation from all enemies foreign and domestic.

With the crisis of Mexican cartels peddling their deathly wares into our nation, mayors declaring emergencies over homelessness, and over a million ‘gotaways’ confirmed by Border Agents under the Biden Administration, this is not the time to make more conveniences for foreigners while ignoring the southern border crisis!

While the ongoing inflation is forcing many Americans to take on second and third jobs to just make ends meet for their families, Gonzales’ comments about how his legislation will incentivize Americans to apply for jobs is downright condescending!
