Overview: This week, the CCUSA policy team hosted the webinar "What You Need to Know About the Debt Ceiling and FY24 Funding." The webinar featured Ellen Nissenbaum, senior vice president for government affairs at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. (See paragraph below for more information).
Webinar: The webinar, "What You Need to Know About the Debt Ceiling and FY24 Funding," drew 135 registrants from across the Catholic Charities network, including agency staff and diocesan directors. Content focused on the interplay between the recently enacted Fiscal Responsibility Act and the appropriations process, as well as how this interplay may impact the Catholic Charities ministry.
Here are the resources provided to the webinar participants:
* A toolkit ([link removed]) on FY24 federal funding priorities;
* An Action Alert ([link removed]) with a letter and phone script to contact elected officials;
* The Grassroots Advocacy Manual ([link removed]);
* One-pagers ([link removed]) based on the advocacy manual.
At the conclusion of the webinar, participants were encouraged to use CCUSA's toolkit ([link removed]) to identify issues important to them and their local communities. The Action Alert ([link removed]) aids participants in contacting their elected officials, urging them to protect important funding in the FY24 budget for persons who are vulnerable, poor and marginalized.

Trivia
Q. On July 22, the church remembers St. Mary Magdalene, who should not be confused with the anonymous woman mentioned at Luke 7:36-50. St. Mary Magdalene is the first witness of the resurrected Christ (John 20:11-18) and therefore is known by what title?
Please send your answers to On July 14, the Church celebrates the feast day of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American to be canonized ([link removed]).
