Webinar: The webinar, "What You Need to Know About the Debt Ceiling and FY24 Funding," drew 135 registrants from across the Catholic Charities network, including agency staff and diocesan directors. Content focused on the interplay between the recently enacted Fiscal Responsibility Act and the appropriations process, as well as how this interplay may impact the Catholic Charities ministry.

At the conclusion of the webinar, participants were encouraged to use CCUSA's toolkit to identify issues important to them and their local communities. The Action Alert aids participants in contacting their elected officials, urging them to protect important funding in the FY24 budget for persons who are vulnerable, poor and marginalized.
Economy: In the week ending July 15, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 228,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 237,000. The 4-week moving average was 237,500, a decrease of 9,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 246,750.
