The top combined personal income tax rate in every province except Alberta and Saskatchewan is currently higher than 50%.
But new polling data published by the Fraser Institute today finds that the majority of Canadians believe that personal income tax rates should not exceed 50%!
Conversely, only 19% of Canadians believe top personal income tax rates should be higher than 50%.
The poll also found that only 35% of Canadians want higher-income families to pay more in taxes – 42% think they should pay the same or less in taxes compared to current rates.
