Take action on PFAS [[link removed]]
The next few weeks are critical.
Hi John,
You probably saw the headlines – Gov. Evers signed the state budget and locked in $125 million in funding to address PFAS contamination. This is historic. But now, more than ever, we need your voice [[link removed]].
This funding won’t be available to communities until we pass legislation that determines how it can be distributed. Any legislation worth supporting needs to work for impacted communities and support long-term remediation efforts.
WRITE YOUR LEGISLATOR [[link removed]]
Thanks to your advocacy, we’ve already seen important proposals for how to strengthen Senate Bill 312, the current PFAS community grants bill. However, the bill still includes limitations on the DNR’s authority to test for PFAS, remediate contamination, and hold polluters accountable. There are opportunities to improve the final version of the bill, but time is limited - changes will be drafted over the next few weeks.
Help us keep the pressure on legislators by calling and writing your legislators today [[link removed]]. You can look up the phone number of your legislators here [[link removed]]. We must ensure they support changes to the bill to protect the DNR’s authority to test for PFAS, begin remediation efforts, and hold polluters accountable. The health of our communities is on the line. We need your voice.
Thank you for fighting for Wisconsin communities. We wouldn’t have come this far without conservation voters like you.
Sincerely,
Peter Burress

P.S. The next few weeks are critical to ensuring polluters are held accountable for their actions and for ensuring this funding is allocated equitably to the communities that need it most. Make a gift today to help us fix this legislation and get it over the finish line [[link removed]].
