You probably saw the headlines – Gov. Evers signed the state budget and locked in $125 million in funding to address PFAS contamination. This is historic. But now, more than ever, we need your voice.
This funding won’t be available to communities until we pass legislation that determines how it can be distributed. Any legislation worth supporting needs to work for impacted communities and support long-term remediation efforts.
Thanks to your advocacy, we’ve already seen important proposals for how to strengthen Senate Bill 312, the current PFAS community grants bill. However, the bill still includes limitations on the DNR’s authority to test for PFAS, remediate contamination, and hold polluters accountable. There are opportunities to improve the final version of the bill, but time is limited - changes will be drafted over the next few weeks.
