John,The Supreme Court (somewhat surprisingly) handed down a ruling that is a big victory for democracy and the integrity of our elections.

In a recent case from North Carolina, the Supreme Court rejected the fringe “independent state legislature” theory, which would have made partisan state legislatures unaccountable to state courts. Political actors could have imposed the harshest restrictions on voting without meaningful oversight by the justice system. It would have meant chaos. We avoided a serious crisis
