Dear Friend,

On Tuesday I was invited to brief the United Nations Security Council at a Special Session on the Middle East and the Palestinian Question. I addressed the current human rights violations facing the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation and called on the international community to take concrete actions to defend Palestinian human rights. The experience was fascinating and I look forward to writing about it more in this week's Washington Watch column.

The current situation facing Palestinians under occupation is fraught with new dangers, requiring us to step up our work.
