A New Deal for Youth Changemakers and Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) hosted an in-person member and staff interactive briefing on how to put youth in power on June 21. For folks who weren't able to join us, you can watch the briefing's highlights here.

The briefing was hosted by A New Deal for Youth in coordination with the office of Rep. Bowman and the Future Forum caucus.

On June 21, we:

Heard directly from young people on what it means to be youth-led (versus youth-centered), how to share decision-making power with young people, and how to sustain engagement with young people
Facilitated an interactive presentation
Hosted a Q&A section
Provided a session on how to make a TikTok
Taught how to score a bill with ND4Y's criteria
Had fun!
As one of our Changemakers said, [INSERT QUOTE]

The New Deal for Youth Policy Platform advances radical and interconnected policy ideas that transform current systems, while also centering racial, gender, and social justice. Our policies seek to redefine whose expertise, experiences, and systems of knowledge are valued, understanding that young people not only deserve a seat at the decision-making table, but can also shake the table and create the menu. We believe in actively combatting classist and racist systems, championing models that empower communities, and amplifying the voices of young people as decision-makers in the future of our greater society.
