This weekend marks one year since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade and undermining the health, dignity, and freedom of women across America.
Here in Texas, we were already living in a nearly post- Roe world a year ago today, with the dystopian SB8 law turning the Lone Star State into a state of chaos and confusion and fear. That was, of course, the point. And as things have gotten worse in states across the country, they have gotten worse here in Texas, too, following the Dobbs decision.
The majority of Americans believe that decisions about reproductive health care--including abortion--should be made between patients and their care providers. People, not politicians. As do the majority of Texans.
The enormous gap between public opinion and public policy speaks to fundamental dysfunction in our political system. But our political system also gives us important tools to fight back against the assault on our health and freedom. And that’s what we have to do now.
We must work together to protect the equality, dignity, and freedom of American women. Giving up isn’t an option. Will you join me? [[link removed]]

You know by now that I’ve been in the fight for Texas women’s right to choose since I was a teenager. And I hope you know that I will continue to do all I can in Congress to restore access to abortion for Texans and all Americans. As the whip of the Pro-Choice Caucus, I am working with my colleagues daily to protect our rights and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act , making the framework of Roe the law of the land in all 50 states.
As hard as today is—and as hard as it was a year ago—we must remember that we can and will make a difference.
We did it in 2018, winning this seat and holding on to it since, by doing the work together. We have to do it again in 2024 in this race and in races across the country to take back the House, hold on to the Senate (while sending a new Senator from Texas), and hold on to the White House.
We have to organize. March. Knock on doors. Make phone calls. Donate. Vote. That is what it will take to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act and restore the freedoms taken away from us one year ago.
Let me know you’re with me. If you’re committed to our fight for freedom and equality, add your name here. [[link removed]]
Together, we can do anything,
