Team —

I’m excited to announce that my bill – the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Climate Change Research Act – passed the U.S. House of Representatives this week!

Chip in now to help me raise the alarm around the climate crisis and share my innovative solutions to this urgent problem →

Climate change has vast consequences for our communities here in Brooklyn and around the nation. But it’s also a major national security threat.

Rising sea levels will threaten low-lying military bases. Droughts, flooding, and food shortages could lead to human displacement and conflict. Rising demand for disaster response will put a strain on first-responders and military officials.

That’s why I introduced the DHS Climate Change Research Act. This legislation requires DHS to recognize the threat of climate change to our national security and defense and to develop plans and tools to counter the impact of the climate crisis here at home and abroad.

Climate change is a national security threat, that much is clear. Together, we can fight for urgent and comprehensive action on the climate crisis. But I’ll need your help to get the word out. Rush a contribution to my campaign today:

It is our congressional duty to take bold steps to address the growing climate change crisis and safeguard our communities from future climate catastrophes, like those faced on the southern shores of NY-9 during Hurricane Sandy. I’m grateful to my colleagues in the House for their action this week and look forward to the swift movement of this legislation in the Senate.

In gratitude,

Yvette Clarke
