[NISA] left more than 40 Al-Shabaab militants dead on Wednesday, the spy agency
said, with Somalia now stepping up efforts to eradicate the group, which enjoys
dominance in central and southern regions of the country. The operation, NISA
added, was aided by international partners who have been critical in the

the operation targeted Yunbis area within the troublesome Lower Shabelle region

the address while two unlicensed pistols, two magazines, materials considered
to be used in bomb-making, and many digital and organizational materials were

previous terrorist attacks conducted in Istanbul. In 2013, Türkiye became one
of the first countries to declare Daesh a terrorist group.”

Voice Of America News: SCO Members Lack Unity On Taliban Terrorism Concerns
<[link removed]>

“Frustration with the rising threat of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan
emerged at a meeting this week of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a
defense and economic alliance platform consisting of China, Russia, India, Iran
and five other Asian states. Russia and Tajikistan say Afghanistan, which holds
an uncertain observer status in the SCO following the Taliban's return to power
in 2021, has become a breeding ground for regional terrorist groups. ‘According
to our information, terrorist groups such as al-Qaida, Hizb ut-Tahrir, the
Islamic Movement of Eastern Turkistan, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, TTP,
Jamaat Ansarullah are currently present in Afghanistan and pose serious threats
to neighboring countries,’ said Amirbeg Begnazarov, a representative of
Tajikistan, at an event Wednesday jointly hosted by the SCO and the United
Nations. He said his nation was ‘very concerned about the concentration of
different terrorist groups next to our borders that we've never had before [and
it] is increasing day by day.’”

<[link removed]>

“U.S. President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday
called on Pakistan to act to ensure that its territory is not used to launch
extremist attacks, the White House said in a joint statement. ‘They strongly
condemned cross-border terrorism, the use of terrorist proxies and called on
Pakistan to take immediate action to ensure that no territory under its control
is used for launching terrorist attacks,’ the White House said. Relations
between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan have been fraught for years.
Since British colonial rule in the Indian subcontinent ended in 1947, India and
Pakistan have fought three wars, two of them over the Muslim-majority Himalayan
region of Kashmir, which they both claim in full but rule in part.”

Voice Of America News: Militancy Resurfacing In Jammu Division On Indian Side
Of J&K
<[link removed].>

“Militance by separatist insurgents in Jammu, part of India’s Jammu and
Kashmir territory, is resurfacing after a gap of 14 years, a former top
military officer told VOA June 20. There have been at least six deadly attacks,
resulting in the loss of 33 lives, including 10 civilians, since 2021. The
first wave of militancy emerged in 1990. Deependra Singh Hooda, former general
officer commanding-in-chief of the Indian army’s Northern Command said two
factors contribute to the resurgence – difficulties the militants face in the
Kashmir Valley because of tough Indian government response and a shifting of
troops from Jammu to deal with border issues with China. ‘The deployment of
troops to address border tensions with China in Ladakh has resulted in a
relatively lower presence of security forces in certain areas of Jammu,’ Hooda
said. ‘The reduced security presence provided an opportunity for terrorists to
establish a foothold and to carry out their activities in the region,’ he said.”
