Take my short community survey   Washington, D.C. - Save the date! On August 7th, our office is hosting another North Texas Job fair at the Irving Convention Center. Our 2021 job fair brought together more than 200 businesses and thousands of job seekers and we’re set to top that this year! Some of our participants are Amazon, TxDOT, FC Dallas, CHRISTUS Health, AT&T, Children’s Health, Holt CAT, and Parkland Health. Stay tuned for the full list of participants which will be released on July 5th! Click here for more information. You may have received a call or a text from me recently with a short community survey. If you haven't yet had a chance, please take a moment to complete this short survey so I can better serve as your voice in Congress. Your opinions matter to me and I'll be watching the results of this survey very closely. Take a brief community survey On Tuesday, I spent nearly 12 hours in a Ways and Means Committee markup, where my colleagues and I worked to advance legislation that will provide tax relief for working families. I am excited to share that we passed my bill, the Protecting American Farmland Act, out of committee! This will prevent the Chinese Communist Party and other foreign adversaries from purchasing our farm and ranch land. We also took a strong bipartisan step to approve the first trade agreement signed under the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade, while also adding new measures to ensure this administration – or future presidents – cannot circumvent Congress's constitutional authority to approve trade agreements. Later in the day, I met with the CEO of DFW International Airport, Sean Donohue. Sean has been great to work with and I look forward to continuing to collaborate to improve our region’s largest economic engine. I had the honor of presiding over the House floor as Speaker Pro Tempore on Wednesday morning for the first time since coming to Congress! On Wednesday afternoon, I joined my colleagues on the Republican Study Committee's Budget and Spending Task Force to announce our budget for the upcoming year! This is a strong, conservative budget that will Protect America’s Economic Security and end President Biden’s reckless spending, which has wreaked havoc on our economy. On Thursday, I helped lead a letter to the Department of Justice urging them to investigate intellectual property theft of American small businesses by the Chinese Communist Party. This intellectual property theft costs the U.S. economy $600 billion a year. I also enjoyed meeting with bright young leaders from Texas Rural Cooperatives earlier in the week! Today in TX-24, I met with the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Metroport Chamber of Commerce to provide an update on my work in Washington. While I've been back in Texas today, our D.C. team was glad to meet with a group of students from North Texas and answer their insightful questions about Congress. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, my Ways and Means Committee colleagues and I took action to provide tax relief for families and small businesses, who have been hit hard by painful inflation. The American Families and Jobs Act will cut taxes for working families, slash red tape and unnecessary costs for small businesses, and bring critical supply chains back from overseas. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Carrollton native Logan J. Doyle, who recently graduated from West Point and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army! In addition to earning several academic awards as a cadet, Logan also interned in our D.C. office. I want to thank Second Lieutenant Logan Doyle for his service to our great nation. Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for our community? Nominate a Texas-24 Hometown Hero here. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep. Van Duyne on One America News Rep.
