Hi, friend, Jake Wheeler here.Â
I'm the Ukraine Response Field Team Lead here at Americares, and I wanted to reach out to you right away about the latest developments on the ground in the aftermath of a hydroelectric dam's destruction in Ukraine.Â
But before I get into the nitty-gritty: Your response over the last year and a half since Russian forces launched their invasion has been instrumental to the recovery and resilience of millions impacted by the violence. As hostilities only increase, and health care becomes even harder to come by, I have to ask you again:Â
Will you rush a gift of $125 right now? Your dollar goes directly toward providing the specific medicine and supplies facilities inside Ukraine need to treat survivors of this ongoing war.

I'm in constant communication with those on the front lines in Ukraine, so allow me to let you in on the latest reports I'm receiving:Â
FIRST:Â
After the dam was destroyed on June 6, thousands were forced from their homes to escape disastrous flooding.Â
This tragic event has only compounded the conflict that has waged on since February 2022.Â
THEN:Â
I got word that villages are flooded and left without water and electricity.Â
A partner sent two buses to the affected region in southeast Ukraine and identified urgent needs like water – which is no longer available in wells – boats, generators, power banks, blankets, canned food, wood-burning stoves, fuel for delivery and some basic medicines.Â
NOW:Â
We are in contact with our partners on the ground and are prepared to deliver medicines, supplies and provide emergency funding.Â
Since the start of the war, 26 teams have supported donations of medicines to the region, and many have traveled directly into Ukraine where medical infrastructure has been destroyed while others go to neighboring countries to treat refugees.

I personally help oversee Americares’ shipments of critical medicine support for local organizations assisting those affected by the war in Ukraine – and I know that Americares is committed to sending more aid as more people are impacted by violence, day after day.Â
And that continual aid is only possible thanks to you, friend. So I have to ask you one more time, as more and more messages come in from first responders on the ground:
Will you make a gift of $125 right now so we can keep protecting and improving the health of so many at risk in Ukraine and around the world?

I can't thank you enough for your generosity. I will keep you updated with everything I hear on the ground.Â
